Kellogg’s representatives visited the Manildra region in NSW to celebrate a milestone 50-year relationship with wheat farmers, the Cotton family, who have been growing and supplying wheat to Kellogg’s for three generations. 

As the family wrap up their annual wheat harvest this week, the harvested grains will be used to create iconic breakfast cereals such as Kellogg’s All Bran, Mini Wheats, Nutri-Grain, Just Right, Sultana Bran and Special K.

Next stop for the grains is to the Manildra Group for milling and finally, will travel to Kellogg’s original Botany Bay Factory in Sydney, to be turned into Australia’s most popular cereals ready for consumers to enjoy.

Representatives from Kellogg’s, the cereal manufacturer which proudly uses 100 per cent Australian grown grains in all its cereals made in Australia, visited the Cotton family farm together with Manildra Group representatives, who provide 90 per cent of the Kellogg’s wheat supply.

The Cotton family has been supplying wheat to Kellogg’s through their long-term supplier Manildra Group across three generations, from grandfather Peter Cotton, to father Terry Cotton and now a generation of Cotton daughters – Jacqueline, Alexandra, Fiona and Victoria. The family were presented with a commemorative plaque to officially mark five decades of working together.

The Cottons are keen to continue the strong relationship with the cereal company for years to come, and welcome the contribution that companies such as Kellogg’s make to support the Australian farming industry.

“We value the support that Kellogg’s has been providing to us and other families like us around the country. We do hope that our future generations will be able to continue working in the Australian farming industry, and it is only through support from companies that commit to buying Australian grown produce, that we can continue to do what we love,” said Mr Cotton. 

Raquel Epstein, procurement manager for Kellogg’s said, “Australian wheat is one of our key ingredients and we use more than 77,000 tonnes of wheat each year, sourced from local Australian farmers like the Cottons.

“As more and more people become conscious of where their food and produce comes from, these longstanding relationships with our farmers are very important to recognise.

“Earlier this year, we also presented commemorative plaques to two corn growing families in the Toowoomba region who have been supplying to Kellogg’s for more than half a century, and also to a rice farming family in Griffith. It’s just our small way of saying thank you to these families.”
